Introduction and navigation - Data sources
Discover the Data Sources workspace and how to use its different features
Introduction
This workspace is dedicated to the management of data coming from the industrial site or from external services. It allows you to see and edit all available tags in the platform. As well as creating calculated series directly in the platform.
Navigation
.

1. New calculated series
Space where you can calculate new data (such as ratios, KPIs, etc.), based on the already qualified data.
2. Manual input
The manual entry option allows you to manually enter any new variable based on the timestamp you have designated in the platform. The manual entry environment is a spreadsheet-like interface.
The different types of manual entry are:
- Floats: Any number can be entered, with no spaces between thousands and a dot between decimals.
- Strings: Any string, which can be a number or text.
- Booleans: 0/1/true/false
3. Qualify data
In this area you will be able to browse all the raw data coming into your platform and choose to :
- Qualify a serie: to specify a name and a unit.
Note: qualification is mandatory to exploit the tag and have it available in the Data Visualisation workspace. - Contextualize the tag: to link the tag to an asset or a perimeter available in the Mapping workspace.
Note: contextualization is optional, it helps to browse the tags from the Mapping workspace
Data can be qualified as a single (one by one) or by batch: see 4. Batch qualify data
4. Batch qualify data
Data can be qualified as a single (one by one) or by batch.
Batch qualify data is the most relevant for large lists of tags. You can directly use your own excel or CSV lists to qualify your tags in the platform, as long as the file respects the template imposed by METRON, including the following columns:
- Tagpath
- Unit
- Name
- Property
Once imported, a format validation window will open to point out the rows where cells are missing or if the platform syntax has not been respected (especially for units).
5. Export Tag List
Please refer to the article Export Tags List.
6. Actions on qualified and calculated series
Please refer to the article Actions on qualified and calculated series.
Additional information
You can also sort your data according to the different columns by clicking on the arrow next to the column name.

The search bar, on the top left of your page, allows you to search for a tag among the list of all the qualified tags and calculated series of your platform. If you cannot find the tag you are looking for, please contact the METRON operations engineer in charge of your project.
